Yu run Yang (1932-2015), musicologist, professor, doctoral supervisor. From 1952 to 1960, he studied composition and musicology at the Central Conservatory of Music and the University of Warsaw in Poland. After returning to China in 1960, he taught at the Central Conservatory of Music. He was a member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, honorary President of Chinese Society of Music aesthetics, honorary President of Chinese Society of Western Music, chief editor of Music Research.Major publications: The Collection of Essays On the History of Music and Aesthetics of Music (1986), Research on the History of Music (1997), New Manuscript on the History of Music (2003); Cultural Interpretation of Western Music and Aesthetics (2005); Monograph: Introduction to Modern Western Music Philosophy (2000), Tragic Chopin -- Interpretation of Tragic Connotation in Chopin's Music (2008); A New Edition of Zofia Lissa's Translation of Music Aesthetics (2003); Chief Editor of The General History of Western Music (2001), etc.
