Qin Wenchen

Vice President

Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. Born in Ordos, Inner Mongolia in October 1966, the current Vice President of the Central Conservatory of Music, he graduated from the composition department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music with a bachelor's degree in 1992. In 2001, he graduated from Folkwang-Hochschule Essen,Germany, with the highest German diploma in composition (equivalent to that of a doctoral degree). Since June 2014, he has been the deputy director of composition department.

He has received commissions from Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Bonn Beethoven International Music Festival, Warsaw Autumn International Music Festival, Bavarian Radio and many other music institutions. His major works include nearly 20 orchestral works and concertos, over 50 solo and chamber music works. All works are published by Sikorski International Music Press in Germany.

From 1993 to 2002, seven of his works won prizes in composition competitions in Germany, the United States, Japan and Taiwan Region. Received honors include Electee of "Ten Thousand Plan" - National High Level Talents Special Support Plan, "Cultural Celebrities and Talents" by Central Publicity Department, Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation for Outstanding Young Teachers Award, The New Century Excellent Talents Award by Ministry of Education, Ou Yongxi Music Education Award, Baosteel Education Awards and the First Central Conservatory of Music Gold Badge Award and so on.

Responsibilities: Undergraduate Teaching, Postgraduate Teaching, Academic Degree, Campus Management, Infrastructure and Musical Instrument Management.
