CCOM Student Wen Ziyang Wins the Special Mention in the First Dmitri Shostakovich International Composers' Competition

A group of trackers on the Yangtze River (for Piano Trio), composed by Wen Ziyang, a first year composition student of Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, won the Special Mention at the First Dmitri Shostakovich International Composers' Competition in Ukraine. His advisor is Professor Chen Yonggang who is teaching in the Composition Department of CCOM.

There were total 16 compositions selected in the final round of the Competition. The compositions were submitted from the United States, Britain, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, etc. All final round compositions were performed by Phoenix Ensemble at Lviv Philharmonic Music Hall on the afternoon of April 14 and 18 in Lviv of Ukraine. A group of trackers on the Yangtze River, the prize-winning composition, will be published by Aldebaran Press in Italy.
