Composition Student of CCOM Hu Zhixuan Wins the First Place in the International Hong Kong Percussion Composition Competition

In November of 2016, the 1st International Hong Kong Percussion Composition Competition announced the list of winners. The Competition received a number of compositions from Mainland of China, the United States, New Zealand, South Korea, Serbia, etc. Through couple of days of evaluation by the judges, Hu Zhixuan, a senior composition student of CCOM, won the First Place of marimba solo group with her composition Shadow Puppetry. Her advisor is Professor Ye Xiaogang.

The International Hong Kong Percussion Composition Competition is hosted by the International Hong Kong Percussion Convention. The competition is open to all composers of all nationalities who are age 35 or younger. The aim of the competition is to select good original compositions for the International Hong Kong Percussion Competition and provide an international stage for talents focusing on musical composition to present their compositions.

The competition will be held every two years. The organization committee consists of Hong Kong Government and Belgian percussionist Ludwig Albert. In order to promote the popularity and development of percussion art and culture, the organizing committee of competition invites world renowned artists to be the judges of the competition and presents top class performance in the concert and outstanding artistic achievement. The international competition will be developed into a new milestone of improving international percussion art and education.
