CCOM Graduate Student Shang Peilei Wins the First Prize in the Harald Genzmer Composition Competition in Germany

Shang Peilei, a graduate student of composition department of CCOM, won the First Prize in the Harald Genzmer Composition Competition 2016 in Germany. Her advisor is Professor Guo Wenjing. In the evening of October 20, 2016, the Prize Award Concert was held in the Gro?erKonzertsaal Music Hall at the University for Music and Performing Arts Munich.


In the prize awarding ceremony before the concert, Mr. Stefan Conradi, the Chair of Harald Genzmer Foundation and Dr. Bernd Redmann, the Chair of composition department of University for Music and Performing Arts Munich awarded the certificates and prize money to the first three prize winners. Shang Peilei was invited to join the prize award concert and to play piano part in the performance of her prize winning composition Yin (for piano and flute) in the concert. German composer Oliver Kolb and Greek composer Theodoros Gkougkousoudis won the Second and Third Prizes respectively.


Harald Genzmer Composition Competition is jointly hosted by Harald Genzmer Foundation, in association the University for Music and Performing Arts Munich and in collaboration with the Deutscher Musikrat. The Competition is held biennially for memorizing the renowned German composer Harald Genzmer (1909-2007), and discovering and promoting new compositions with highly innovativeness and aesthetic connotation. The composition is required to be a duo for flute and piano. The organizing committee of the Competition received total 134 composition from over 30 countries all over the world.


The score of Shang Peilei's prize winning composition will be published by well-renowned German music publisher Musikverlag Schott Music.
