CCOM Composition Student Wang Ruiqi Wins the Third Place in Germany

In 2016 Vereler International Composition Competition in Germany, Die Linie: ohne Zentrum/ohne Dehnung for piano trio, composed by Wang Ruiqi, a doctoral student of CCOM Composition Department, won the Third Place. The Committee of the Competition received dozens of works from all over the world. Through careful selection of all jury members, the final three winners were announced by the Committee.

Wang Ruiqi’s work will be premiered by the renowned Dinu Lipatti Trio Berlin at the Vereler Hafen Music Festival on August 14, 2016. The well-renowned pianist Cristian Niculescu is one of the founders of Dinu Lipatti Trio Berlin.

Wang Ruiqi has studied composition with Professor Jia Guoping since 2004. In 2014, he was awarded national scholarship for students going abroad and went to Hamburg University of Music and Drama for advanced study. During his study in Germany, he continued his study on composition with Professor Chen Xiaoyong, Professor Manfred Stahnke, and Professor Fredrik Schwenk.
