"Musician Group" Guests of 2016 China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum Visit CCOM

May 12, 2016, as a part of the event of 2016 China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum, over 30 guests who came from 16 central and eastern European countries visited the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. 2016 China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum is hosted by the Ministry of Culture of P. R. China and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality. The 16 Central and Easter European Countries (CEEC) include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia. The "Musician Group" guests consist of artistic directors of national symphony orchestras and national music festivals, directors of music information centers, general managers of music agency companies, directors of cultural affairs bureau, etc..

With the theme of "cross-cultural cooperation," the forum aims to explore the way of art cooperation and improve the prospect of art cooperation on the areas of music, dance and theater. Some teachers and students were invited to attend the opening ceremony of this forum. Chair of Chinese Musicians Association and Vice President of CCOM Ye Xiaogang delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. In the following group discussions, CCOM Professor Qin Wenchen made a speech of "Practice and Extension of Music Composition in the Context of Cross-cultural Cooperation." CCOM Professor Chen Danbu made a speech of "Project Planning and Discussion on 16 + 1 Cultural Season in 2017."

On the afternoon of May 12, the President of CCOM Yu Feng held a brief welcome ceremony and a recital in the Recital Hall of CCOM. First of all, on behalf of CCOM, President Yu warmly welcomed all the visiting guests of "Music Group" from 2016 China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum. He said in his talk that, as a top school and music center on professional music performance, art creation and academic research in China, CCOM would be positively participant into the distinguished gathering of China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum. Our school aims to build a music cultural platform for exchanges between music fields of China and Central Eastern European Countries during last few years. He hoped that our musicians would have more opportunity to visit CEEC. President Yu especially mentioned that Music Confucius Institute of CCOM would build platform with these countries in the future which would be a strong basis for sustainable cooperation in the field of musical culture among China and 16 CEE Countries.

In the Recital, the Vice President of CCOM Ye Xiaogang introduced the players, the repertoire and the instruments that musicians played for the guests. Professor Zhang Hongyan, the Vice Chair of Traditional Instruments Department of CCOM, and her students played Chinese ancient piece Shimian Maifu[Ambush on All Sides] arranged for pipa ensemble; Senior Professor Li Xiangting played Chinese ancient qin piece Liushui[Flowing Water]; piano teacher Chen Yunjie played Liszt's piano piece La Campanella; the student of Middle School of CCOM Sun Yangshu played guzheng piece Woody Spring composed by Professor Ye Xiaogang. The Recital completed successfully with Mendelssohn's String Quartet No.6 in f minor, first movement, played by Amber Quartet of CCOM. The guests of "Music Group" from 2016 China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum gave a high evaluation to the excellent performances of CCOM teachers and students. They burst into applause after each program. 

After the Recital, Vice President of CCOM Ye Xiaogang and Director of MCIO of CCOM Liu Yuening had a brief meeting with all the guests. Director of International Affairs Office of CCOM Liu Hongzhu and Deputy Director of IAO of CCOM Tao Qian attended the welcome ceremony and the recital. Then, the guests visited some of the teaching facilities in the teaching building of CCOM and the newly built Opera Concert Hall in East Campus. They also observed an opera rehearsal of Voice and Opera Department and a class of Electroacoustic Music Studio, and talked to the students and teachers in the class. 

After their visit in CCOM, the guests said that they were really impressed by the trip to CCOM.
