The Bassoon teaching section of Orchestral Instruments Department of CCOM will host an International Bassoon Symposium--International Bassoon Festival 2009--from May 4th to May 8th, 2009. The purposes of the festival are mutually exploring the new trends of bassoon teaching and performance, and improving the development of Bassoon in China.

The festival will last for one week, including master classes for three days and five concerts (one will be performed at NCPA). It will invite renowned bassoonists and bassoon teachers from U.S.A., German, Australia, Austria, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, nine major music conservatories in Mainland, and well-known orchestras, etc. It will also include several symposiums and lectures to explore the most considerable issues about bassoon teaching and performance.

This festival is the first academic event focus on bassoon teaching and performance hold in China. It will be a communicating platform for Chinese and global bassoonists and bassoon amateurs and a bridge to connect the bassoon fields at home and abroad.
