Invited by the Central Conservatory of Music, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma will give a concert in the concert hall of CCOM at 7:30pm on Monday, Oct. 13th, 2008.
Offically founded in November, 2002, Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma attracted many excellent musicians in Europe. With strong financial support from Fondazione Roma, the orchestra has been managed by Fondazione Arts Academy and Accademia Internazionale di Musica. Every year, these skillful artists will give over one hundred performances all over the world. One of their missions is to attract young audiences to come and experience the symphonic music. The Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma attaches importance to the communication and cooperation with Chinese music circles and music educational circles. They hope to establish long term collaboration in order to help Chinese students to get deeper understanding about Italian symphony and musical culture.
The artistic director and principal conductor Francesco La Vecchia was born into a musical family. In recent five years, he conducted over three hundreds symphony concerts and twenty-one operas. In 2002, he was appointed the artistic director and principal conductor of Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma. Under his leadership, the "young" Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma has become one of the symphony orchestras with high reputation and considerable popularity in Europe.
In the concert, Mr. Vecchia will conduct Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma to performe Symphony No. 4 by Johannes Brahms and Overture from I Vespri Siciliani by Giuseppe Verdi, and will give further interpretation about two compositions.
