The Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China, is a world-renowned institute of music that represents the highest caliber of music education in China, providing a comprehensive range of specialized programs. It is also China's only art academy listed among the national leading universities supported by the state "Project 211".
With its vision to become a world-renowned conservatory with top-notch programs in music education, and in order to better prepare future generations of music professional leaders for the development of art in China, the CCOM has established a professional symphony orchestra, positioned as a state-level platform for music production and performance. The Symphony Orchestra of the Central Conservatory of Music, as established, is now recruiting a variety of music professionals in orchestral performance from around the world who are interested in becoming a member of the ensemble. Recruitment Requirements:
- Recruitment is open to all applicants from around the world, regardless of nationality, location, gender or age. - Applicants for performer roles should have good professional ethics and excellent performing skills, and hold at least a bachelor's degree or have an equivalent qualification. Top qualified candidates are selected on a voluntary application basis and through public auditions and exams.
Opening Positions
- Professional performers of orchestral instruments including: violin, viola, cello, contrabass, flute (piccolo), clarinet (bass clarinet), oboe (English horn), bassoon (contrabassoon), French horn, trumpet, tenor trombone, bass trombone, and percussion.
Compensation and Benefits
For concertmaster, principals and musician fellows: A competitive compensation and benefits package based on orchestral positions; For formal orchestral players: 12 thousand RMB Yuan per month;
All musicians and staff of the Symphony Orchestra are engaged under a contract of service, and covered by China's statutory five social insurance schemes and one housing fund program. A six-month probation applies to all successful applicants. (Probationary pay to be announced.)

It is a long-term Recruiting plan, the audition and exam will be done in batches after applications.
Audition and Exam
1. Audition based on a prepared piece: Applicants will play one prepared movement of a concerto or sonata, or other solo pieces to demonstrate the highest level of their musical and technical abilities; 2. Audition based on compulsory pieces: Applicants will play orchestral excerpts designated by the audition panel (Click the link of A List of Orchestral Excerpts for the Audition for more information in the Appendix I) 3. Sight-reading: The piece to sight-read will be given at the audition.
